Jack Rogers is a fourth generation Fremont resident with long standing ties to Warm Springs and the Mission Districts.  On his Fathers side, Jack’s Great Grandfather arrived in the South Bay and settled in Sunol in the late 1860’s where, in 1871, his grand father Joe Rogers was born.  In 1901 Joe Rogers purchased the General Store in Mission San Jose and was appointed Postmaster, a position he held until his death in 1940.  On his mother’s side, his grandfather, Jack Goularte, was the foreman of the Curtner Ranch in Warm Springs.  Later Jack Goularte purchased his own ranch at the top of Curtner Road, where the Higuera Adobe is located.

In 1972 Jack Rogers and wife Maria were married in the Centerville District. They have two sons Nicholas and Matthew.  Jack is a product of local schools; first attending school in the Centerville School District, then Washington High, then on to Chabot College and California State University Hayward, where I received a BS Degree in Business Administration and  BS Degree in Recreation Administration.  He taught at Chabot and Ohlone Colleges and has recently retired from 32 years of employment with the City of Fremont.  While with the City he managed the City’s Central Park operation, then moved on to Director of Recreation and retired from the position of Maintenance and Recreation Services Director.  For the last ten years of his employment he managed the City’s second largest Department consisting of some 220+ full time employees and 400+ part time/seasonal employees.  In this position he was responsible for a staff that maintained all assets owned by the City of Fremont (streets, parks, buildings, fleet operations, etc.) and for the delivery of recreation services.

Jack has been active in many community activities; most recently serving as President of Niles (Fremont) Rotary, serving as a managing Director for the “Celebrate Fremont” 50th Anniversary Committee while working on events for Washington Hospital and Starstruck Theater
